Privacy Policy
Effective May 5, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Vizno collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Service. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information described here.
This Privacy Policy applies to Vizno LLC (“Vizno”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) and the Vizno platform, including the website, the player, the studio, and related features (the “Service”).
1. Information we collect
1.1 Information you provide
- Account information: email address, password (stored hashed), and any optional information you choose to provide.
- Profile information: display name, biography, avatar, content rating preferences.
- Communications: messages you send to support, via contact forms, or through any in-platform messaging.
- Authoring assistant content (creators only): the Aldus AI authoring assistant is a creator tool. If you use it, the messages and project context you submit are processed to generate responses; conversation history and proposed actions are stored to support thread continuity and review. Aldus is not used by readers or players.
- Creator information (creators only): identity verification documents, tax forms (such as W-9 or W-8BEN), and payout account information when monetization is enabled. Before we issue a payout to a creator, or before we enroll or pay a participant in the Vizno reseller / affiliate program, we screen that person or entity against U.S. sanctions lists (OFAC SDN and similar). This screening applies only to people receiving funds from Vizno (creators at payout, resellers in the reseller program); it does not apply to readers, players, or other users of the Service. See the Creator Terms of Service.
- Age-verification information (where applicable): some content or features may, depending on jurisdiction and our policies in effect at the time, require you to confirm that you are an adult before access. If we ask you to complete an age-verification step, that step is performed by a third-party age-verification provider, and the provider may collect personal identification information from you in order to make that determination. Depending on the method offered or chosen at the time, this can include things such as a government-issued identification document, a photograph or video of your face, or other identifying signals. Vizno generally receives a pass/fail result and limited associated metadata rather than the underlying documents themselves.
- Payment information (when applicable): when monetization features are launched, payment processing is handled by our payment provider; Vizno does not store full payment card numbers.
1.2 Information we collect automatically
- Usage data: pages visited, features used, time spent, interaction patterns, and similar diagnostics.
- Device information: browser type and version, operating system, device identifiers, language settings.
- Network information: IP address, approximate geographic location derived from IP, and similar network-level data.
- Cookies and similar technologies: see Section 9.
- Player save data: your in-game progress, preferences, and choices, associated with your account so you can resume across sessions.
1.3 Information from third parties
- Authentication providers, when you sign in with a third-party identity service offered through the Service.
- Service providers and analytics partners, in aggregated or pseudonymous form.
2. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- provide, operate, secure, and maintain the Service;
- authenticate users, enforce content rating settings, and prevent unauthorized access;
- where applicable, confirm that a user is an adult before providing access to age-restricted content, and apply regional availability rules based on approximate location, including blocking access to the Service from U.S.-sanctioned jurisdictions;
- review adult content prior to publication and operate automated detection systems for prohibited material (such as CSAM hashing); information generated by moderation systems may be used to improve those systems;
- personalize content discovery and recommendations based on your preferences;
- power the Aldus AI authoring assistant for creators who use it;
- process payments, payouts, and tax reporting (when applicable), including sanctions screening of creators prior to payout and of reseller-program participants prior to enrollment and payment;
- communicate with you about your account, the Service, support requests, and material changes to our policies;
- monitor usage and improve the Service;
- detect, investigate, and respond to fraud, abuse, security incidents, and policy violations;
- comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
3. Legal bases for processing (EEA / UK)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, our processing of your personal information is based on:
- Contract: to provide the Service you have requested.
- Legitimate interest: to operate, secure, and improve the Service, balanced against your rights.
- Consent: where required (for example, for certain cookies or marketing communications). You may withdraw consent at any time.
- Legal obligation: to comply with applicable law.
4. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information.
We share information with:
- Service providers who help us operate the Service, including:
- Supabase— database, authentication, and storage hosting.
- Vercel— web hosting and content delivery.
- Anthropic— processing of Aldus AI authoring assistant requests for creators who use Aldus (the prompts submitted by the creator and the resulting responses). Anthropic is not involved in serving content to readers or players.
- Age-verification providers— where applicable, a third-party identity / age-verification provider (such as a provider in the identity-verification industry) performs the age check and returns a result to us. Specific providers will be disclosed once selected.
- Sanctions-screening providers— used to screen creators (prior to payout) and reseller-program participants (prior to enrollment and payment) against U.S. sanctions lists. Not used to screen readers or players.
- [Payment processor name]— payment processing, when monetization is launched.
- Internal analytics— usage and stability analytics are operated in-house on our own infrastructure rather than through third-party analytics providers.
- Creators, in limited form: creators may receive aggregate data about how their content is consumed (such as play counts and completion rates). Creators do not receive your individual identifying information unless you explicitly contact them or take a public action (such as posting a review) under your creator-visible identity.
- Legal compliance and protection: we may disclose information when required by law, valid legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Vizno, our users, or others.
- Business transfers: if Vizno is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of the transaction. We will notify you of any such change in ownership or control of your personal information.
- With your consent: any other sharing is done only with your consent.
5. Data retention
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. After account deletion, player saves and authoring assistant conversation history are deleted within 90 days, subject to legal retention requirements (such as tax records or records required to defend legal claims).
Aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably be linked to you may be retained indefinitely.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights including:
- Access: request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction: ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Deletion: request that we delete your personal information.
- Portability: request a portable copy of certain information you have provided.
- Objection or restriction (EEA / UK): object to certain processing or ask us to restrict processing.
- Opt-out of sale or sharing (California): we do not sell personal information; you may still submit an opt-out request via the contact information below.
- Non-discrimination: we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
- Right to lodge a complaint (EEA / UK): you may contact your local data protection authority.
To exercise these rights, contact privacy@vizno.app. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
7. Children’s privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 18 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a minor has provided us personal information, contact privacy@vizno.app and we will take appropriate action.
8. International data transfers
Vizno is operated from the United States and uses U.S.-based service providers. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for transfers from the EEA, UK, or other regulated jurisdictions.
9. Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Service, remember your preferences, and analyze usage. The categories we use include:
- Strictly necessary: required for authentication, security, content rating gating, and core Service functionality.
- Functional: remember preferences such as content rating settings and locale.
- Analytics: help us understand how the Service is used so we can improve it.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling strictly necessary cookies may impair core Service functionality.
10. Do Not Track
Vizno does not currently respond to Do Not Track browser signals because no consistent industry standard has been adopted.
11. Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Notify us at security@vizno.app of any suspected security incident affecting your account.
12. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will communicate material changes via the Service or by email and will update the “Effective” date at the top of this Policy. Your continued use of the Service after the revised Policy takes effect constitutes acceptance of the changes.
